Firmness is a feel, not a medical grade. Two people can describe the same mattress differently. Use this as a map of what Sleep America actually sells.
If you want a stable, firmer surface
A firmer mattress keeps hips from sinking as far. Our firmer builds are the rebonded-foam orthopedic models, Ortho Spine and Spine X, and the rubberised-coir Ortho Coir. LAT ORTHO is firm latex over rebonded foam.
If you want a hugged, softer top
Memory foam lets shoulders and hips sink a little. Arizona is a memory-foam mattress. Spine Memory puts memory foam over a firm core, so the top is softer than the base.
If you want bounce
Latex pushes back. Amazona is a 7-zone natural latex mattress. Pocket-spring beds such as Atlanta and Comfort Sleeper feel more buoyant than a solid foam block. Comfort Sleeper is built with side sleepers in mind.
A simple test
Lie in the position you use most. Your spine should look roughly level from the side. If your waist hangs in a hammock, the bed is too soft for you. If your shoulder cannot sink at all on your side, it is too firm for that position. None of these mattresses treats back pain. If pain is new or severe, see a doctor.
Then match the inch size to the frame. The size guide lists 36, 48, 60 and 72 inch widths.
