Rubberised coir is coconut fibre bound with latex. It makes a firm, open core that lets air move, which matters in humid parts of India. It does not hug the way memory foam does.
Ortho Coir
Ortho Coir uses that coir core with a plush comfort layer on top. It is the model to look at if you want a firmer traditional feel rather than a slow sink. It is not a medical device, and the word orthopedic on our site means a firmer support build.
Coir compared with foam and latex
- Coir: firm, airy, less contour. Ortho Coir.
- Rebonded foam: firm and dense, without coir. Ortho Spine and the Economy mattress.
- Natural latex: springy and cooler than memory foam. Amazona.
- Memory foam: slower sink and more contour. Arizona.
In monsoon weather, keep any of these dry. A washable protector and an aired room matter more than the core. See mattress care in humid weather.
